hi there.  hope your weekend was pleasant.  it was quiet for us with just life-stuff.  sweetie had a 'geek day' on Saturday, and I was sleepy on meds on sunday when he put the paintings up online, so I wasn't able to blog as soon as they went up.

Sweetie and I went to Bates Crafters Gallery in the snow this morning in order for me to feel more at ease with my display of the Spirit Animal minis.  I felt I was doing them a disservice by just setting them on an easel and being done with it, when they have more energies in them to give to people.  I wanted to make sure that the totem animals were noticed for what they are; a loving energy to help you in your life.  I spend a bit of time researching each animal and it's meaning as a totem.  even if I have several paintings of an animal, I try to make each meaning and write up unique.  I was kept awake at night thinking that a person could buy a piece of artwork from me and not know it's significance!

we spent some time figuring out how to get the painting bios in the little space I have, and I think we did a good job.

the two newest otters still need to be varnished and their sides painted so are not yet at the store, and I'm still contemplating whether or not to bring in the dog magnets when I dont have more than a handful to show.  we'll see how the coming week looks for getting more painted, or if the body will be in need of more rest.  I have been on the go for a while and now might be a good time to take a little break from everyday painting.  I have not yet committed anything to Pat at the animal control, nor have I spent any money for extra space to show the magnets.  I dont want to burn myself out by pretending I'm super woman during a time of healing.  I can go slowly with the dog magnets, and when I have a bunch I can put them out into the world.  I think they would have a bigger impact that way, honestly.

this week has been slow with my work-type-stuff.  between my fall and lucy-pup needing three teeth extracted, I was on the couch and tending to us both for a good few days.  but I have managed a few good paintings and have already sold one right off the easel!

I had a request for otters last week, so I made that a priority and came up with two completed paintings out of 4 planned and sketched out canvasses.

I also had a bit of luck with some dog painting magnets this week.  I didn't get 7 finished, but I did get 3, and thats pretty good with an injury and a needy pup.

injury update and new (and some old) paintings online

hi there.  

I went to urgent care Saturday, and while there I had a huge flare from sitting on the waiting room seats for an hour.  the doctor was very concerned about my neck and anything that might be wrong, and thought I should have better testing, so sent me to the ER.  I was there for about 3 hours, and they did a CT scan that told us nothing horrible had happened.  their words are, "strain of muscle and tendon of back wall of thorax; strain of muscles, fascia and tendon at neck level".  they sent me home with a few prescriptions and I'm feeling much better now.  still tender, but thats to be expected.  certainly nothing like I was Saturday!

since having my injury, I've decided to play my March Magnet Challenge by ear, not expecting myself to complete a painting each day, but to do them when I can.  I was able to add a little layer on the three I sketched out the other day and was exhausted afterwards, so I'd say resting is important at this time.
